Take charge of your health! You can safely manage or lower the risk of developing diabetes by making healthy changes like these:

Get enough fiber. Choose foods high in fiber like whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, beans, nuts and oats. Fiber helps slow down the absorption of sugar in thefoods you eat.

Don’t skip meals and practice portion control. Eating at regular intervals maintains stable blood sugar levels. Regular meals and snacks that are high in protein and fiber can also help prevent you from overeating

Get moving. Aim for 30 minutes on most days of the week and increase as you are able.

Know your numbers. Work with your doctor and keep a record of your A1C, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Staying on track will help lower your risk of additional health problems
